Why Choose iMac? What You Need To Know…

Posted by: Valik Rudd  :  Category: iMac

The exciting, all-in-one desktop computer from Apple, Inc., called the iMac has grown through several forms to what it is today. It has become so popular thanks to it’s sleek, thin design, the aluminum case and all the high tech development that is put into every new model released. The iMac’s recent innovations like the new NVIDIA chipset graphics feature and the ultra-thin keyboard has gotten it a lot of attention.

But while both Sony and HP have their versions of the all-in-one desktop with a glossy screen and trim profile, iMac has the following advantages over them that will make computer users choose iMac over those brands:

The iMac, in addition to the features and overall performance that will put it ahead of other similarly priced desktops, has aesthetic features that visually impress instantly. It looks very sleek in the solid piece of anodized aluminum that covers the body, finally doing away with the distinctive snow-white case. The new iMac looks thinner than the original design.

The side-to-side glass covered display makes the image show bright and crisp. Like on the famous MacBook and the MacBook Pro, the glass on the front of the iMac’s display gives a much reflective quality.

The iMac now comes with wider displays as an answer to the trend for widening displays among computer makers. In doing so, iMac practically abandoned its old 17-inch display which they first replaced with 20 and 24 inches sizes and lately, they came out with the new standard display of 16:9 wide screens in 21.5″ and 27″ models. The iMac’s 27″ model has a digital video input port that allows the display for other systems or devices.

For recording videos, video chat and other video needs, the new iMac comes with the iSight integrated camera that delivers 640 pixels by 480 pixels, quality video and still photos. It sits hidden behind the display’s glass blended nicely with the screen’s black border. Hand in hand with the camera, a multi-directional microphone picks up the sounds through eight laser cut pin holes in the top of the case.

The NVIDIA video card is still standard in the base models in the iMac and an ATI video card is available as an option. Making it the first quad-core iMac, the 27-inch model features the quad-core Intel Core i5 processor and has an option of the Intel Core i7 processor which TurboBoosts the dynamic performance up to 3.46GHz. The new iMac comes standard with 4GB of SDRAM and supports up to, crazy, 16GB.

The most radically redesigned element of the new iMac is the keyboard, the same keyboard with identical spacing as those found in the MacBook. The difference is that this ultra-thin keyboard is mounted on a thin piece of aluminum that matched perfectly the sleek body. The front edge of the keyboard is only about a third of an inch in height so the wrists and hands have more natural arched position, making the keyboard more ergonomic. In addition to the ergonomic design, the keyboard also acts as a USB 2.0 hub where you can plug in several USB devices like iPod, iPhone, and digital cameras.

As we’ve seen, the features and the design of the new iMac make it hands-down the winner and the best all-in-one desktop to switch to.
